As of this writing, the following plugins have been turned into measures:
HUD NOWPLAYING RIANMETER .DLL
dll files for these plugins will no longer exist in your Rainmeter Plugins folder. At this time, there is no need to change anything in your skin code, but do be aware that discrete. If you are on Windows XP or Windows Vista, and can't or don't wish to upgrade, you will need to stay on the 3.3 Release version of Rainmeter.įor some stability and performance reasons, we are in the process of changing most or all of the plugins that are distributed with the Rainmeter installation from being external "plugins" to being internal "measures". Windows versions later than Windows 7 are fully supported. These should have been automatically applied several years ago by Windows Update, but if you have Windows Update turned off you may need to get and apply these updates manually. Rainmeter 4.0 requires at least Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 and the Platform Update applied. There is never any need to uninstall any earlier version of Rainmeter to use the newest version.ĭue to future application improvements we intend, which will require the latest version of the Direct2D / DirectWrite graphical engines:Īs of Rainmeter 4.0, Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer supported by the application.
HUD NOWPLAYING RIANMETER INSTALL
You can safely install the new 4.0 beta version right over top of your existing Rainmeter 3.3 or earlier installation, and nothing you have done will be lost or changed. The following are the changes for the 4.0 beta version of Rainmeter. PS: The other gadget I installed (and also modded) today is HUD Time gadget ( modded version here).De eerste bètarelease van Rainmeter versie 4.0 is uitgekomen. %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\nowplaying_mod.gadget\pluginsĪnd run NPWinamp.exe to install the Winamp plugin.

HUD NOWPLAYING RIANMETER MOD
So after a bit of tinkering (not my first gadget mod but I don’t have too much experience with this either), I managed to get it to use the track filename and display that instead (cut into halves at its first ” – ” occurrence: first part for artist, remaining part for trackname. The widget would just switch to its “Play a file in Winamp” message. One issue I noticed though is its inability to display the trackname for tracks which lack the ID3 tag. One of the gadgets I started using recently is the “Now Playing” gadget which I found here (complete with the required Winamp plugin – which requires manual installation). Don’t get me wrong, Rainmeter is a great application, but I’m already using several desktop gadgets for which I was unable to find suitable replacements under Rainmeter. Trying to lower my memory usage I’ve decided to quit using Rainmeter for my date/time and now playing “gadgets” and look for Windows 7 compatible gadgets instead.
